Hive #3 doing well and ready for a second brood box.  Top feeder removed, frames with foundation added. Side feeder installed.  The Queen is laying and the girls are storing pollen and honey.

Hive#2 looking good.  The girls are storing honey and
the queen is busy laying.

Hive #2 - Honey in progress!
Hive #1 so busy we added a third honey super.  It's time to think about extracting some honey.  Yum!

How It's Made Honey, Discovery Channel

 Food for thought!

Thanks for Visiting

Beth's mom was in town and came to visit the bees.  She joined us to get a closer look at the honey production in hive #2.  Beth stayed clear of the hive and took pictures.  I don't think she believes our Italian bees are as friendly as we say!

Today we checked all three hives and added a third honey super to hive #1.
The top two honey supers are full so we added the third for the girls to work the comb.
If were lucky, they'll build out the comb and add honey.
5 Story Town Home!

Look closely and you can see white larvae in a few of the uncapped cells.
Hive #3, one week old, and the queen is laying.  Yippee!

Hive #3...looking good.  The queen is hard at work.
